Childhood Trauma is being neglected or abused by our family and the experience of helplessness is what cements memories of these experiences permanently, so we re-experience them over and over. As children, we are more likely to be helpless around abusive adults, so Childhood Trauma is often referred to a Complex or Developmental Trauma. EMDR helps us release fixed memories so they can be desensitized, have meaning changed and then allowed to integrate in our brain or be deleted.
